William & Jean's Story
William & Jean who were both 76 decided to write their own Wills, they owned a house worth £320,000 and had £100,000 in savings.
They lived with their daughter Susan who helped look after them both. They also had a son, James, they had not seen him for 10 years but still wanted to leave him a little something in the Wills as they wanted Susan to have the most.
So they left James a gift of £50,000 and Susan the rest, (the residue) This is what happened, William died and Jean spent the last 6 years of her life in care, over £350,000 was spent on Jeans care, when she died only £60,000 was left.
Because money gifts come out of a Will first James received £50,000 but after expenses and costs Susan received less than £2,000. That was not what they intended.
With ‘Protective Property Trust Wills’ half the house value (£160,000) could have been protected for Susan, instead she lost it all. DIY WILLS ARE VERY RISKY!

No Glue! is this You?
Arthur and Janet had been very careful preparing their DIY Wills they purchased on the internet, they made sure everything was as they wished, that the wording was correct and easily understandable.
When they were 100% happy they downloaded their Wills from the internet site, printed them off and had their friends witness their signatures. Unfortunately when Arthur died his Will was rejected by the Probate Office because the Will was on separate sheets and not bound together as one document.
If a Will consists of more than 1 sheet of paper it must be securely bound to prove to the Probate Office it is the original and has not been tampered with.
All of our Wills are thermally bound in a protective cover.
